1900s pakeha attitude toward Maori

In the 1900s fashion was like wearing a long dress and suits.

Pearl Button was the main character. Pearl has a blonde curl, blue eyes, and wearing lots of clothes with white bright teeth. Two Maori women and two Maori men and police were also characters

Pearl is swinging on the gate and sang a little small song. Two Maori women are walking on the road barefoot with a big flax basket of ferns. Then pearl stop swinging and the two Maori women stop when they see her and start talking and waving their hands around and pearl laugh. The two Maori women walk over and ask her questions about her then they told her she coming with them to beautiful things to show her. She follows them but after a while, they ask her if she tried and nodded her head no and they continue walking for a bit before they asked if she was sure she was not tired again she shake her head no but she starts crying and her lips start trembling and one of the women gave her a flax blanket and wraps her up, and carry her. They took her to a one-room house with other Maori women and men.

Yellow Brick Road

Witi Ihimaera was born in Gisborne in New Zealand.

Five publish world have been issue into film-like Kawa.

Yellow Brick Road means to me like the "Follow the Yellow Brick Road" in the wizard of oz.

I think the story is about a journey.

Witi Ihimaera - Penguin Books New ZealandThe narrative believes they were moving to wellington so his parent could get jobs and get more money.

In Waituhi is very poor while wellington is where the money is.

The dad tells uncle sam that they want to start a new life and to let the kids have a better life.

The narrative was very happy at the start but near the end, he starts to feel scared.

Emerald city, yellow brick road, flying monkey, tinman, scarecrow, cowardly lion is from the famous book and movie The Wizard of Oz the writer made this comparison because when he got closer he realized it not what it seems but what he realized that he has his family.
