What happened to all the dragons? Did they all go extinct or went into hiding?

A human being with long blonde curly hair who was wearing a white dress and a flower crown wandered around in the forest. Until she made it to a meadow filled with colourful flowers. The tree bunches moved as if they were waving. Until something tackled her to the grass still ground and growled, she was frozen like ice scared for her life that the beast would bite.

But then something tackled the beast and saved her, the girl sat up and looked around to no longer see the beast but a dragon.

A real-life dragon standing right there!

It was standing there before her eyes, she had never seen anything as beautiful as the thing was alive, they were myth and legend but the girl never thought they were real.

The dragon and the girl stood there staring at each other until the dragon flew toward the female human and tackled her then started licking her and all the girl did was giggle as if she was an angel. Then the dragon stopped and flew beside her when the girl noticed that there wasn’t only one dragon there was about 15 in front of her staring like she was a target until they all tackled her to the ground and they all licked her and she giggled.

Until there was a roar and they all flew off of her and bowed to a large golden old dragon as if he was a king. The golden dragon walked up to the girl and sniffed her then started licking her and she started giggling and the old bearded dragon roared and a dragon grabbed her and put her on the king's back. The Dragon lifted his wing and started flying into the air and the other dragons followed. They flew over a river that turned into an ocean until they settled on an island where more dragons were flying around, playing fighting with another, sleeping near the water to only be woken up by the golden king's loud roar.

The dragon all stopped and watched as the golden old dragon landed.

The same red dragon grabbed the girl and put her back on land. A baby sky blue dragon walked up to the girl and sniffed her and then licked her a few times for the girl to start giggling. Then all 15 of the baby dragons tackled her and started licking her and she started giggling a little louder and all the dragons fell in love with her, liking the fact she wasn’t scared or going to hurt them.

SEXXY 1 - Statement In the going for a run Scene in The Power Of One, we see Mise en scene which means there is a purpose about how the shot workaround PK and Gideon Example/evidence In the running scene we see PK and Gideon running to the fountain in the background we can see a lady looking concerned, worried as Gideon drinks from the non-white fountain, and then PK said a myth we don’t even believe in. Gideon says how he wants to believe his people. A bit later Gideon walks away and another lady is with her two kids and walks up the stairs and pulls her kids into her as she sees Gideon and says whites gotta stay back when blacks walk by. Explanation of Director’s Purpose The Director’s purpose was to show us, the audience how the white treated non-white people back in the past when they would be scared or angry. In one scene a non-white man jumps onto a truck but a white man kicks the person off. The director put that in the scene that if you were non-white would be treated differently to white and so history doesn’t repeat itself. Explanation of Effect - link back to question This helps us understand that this technique helps us think about how bad Racistment was back in the day and it makes us feel bad and sympathy for Gideon and other non-white. Mise en Scene is a scenery, props, etc that is set up in the way so you understand what happens around the actor in a way so we can understand what happening around them to help us understand the scene more. SEXXY 2 Dialogue has a big purpose in movies and books because it’s a conversation with 2 people or more and is an important aspect in this scene. This helps us understand how white talk to non-white. PK and Gideon are having a conversation as they were running. One thing Gidon said, “You know you hope for a good tomorrow in South Africa but if we don’t learn to do for ourselves as equal, that hope will disappear, disappear!” He says this because he believes that PK can help teach his people how to talk, write and read English. The director did this because he wanted to show us that Gidon believes that they shouldn’t be treated differently because of their race. This helps us as the audience understand that they shouldn’t be treated differently cause in the end we are all human.

SEXXY 3

Symbolism is a big key in movies because it helps us get the meaning behind the movie for The Power Of One it was water, hope, and freedom.

The Power Of One was water, hope, and freedom. Symbolism is used when PK was using the non-white fountain because the white fountain was not working and he had a drink then we see water pouring onto his hands and turns into the next scene.

The director did this to show us that anyone who has hope can do anything, everyone has diverse freedom and water

This helps the audience understand that everyone has diverse freedom, we should have hope and water

Written Text Essay

A Game of Card - Describe at least one memorable idea in the text. Explain why this idea was memorable to you.

In the short written text “A Game Of Cards” by Witi Ihimaera, the narrator reflect on his Nani Miro’s life, how the narrator comes home when she was dying and was busy last time and couldn’t come over to see her “ There no such thing of being too busy to see your kuia, next time make time.” A memorable moment in the text was that Nani Miro was dying so all her family and friends came over and they spent her last few breaths being happy, playing cards. To me, it shows that we should be surrounded by family and friends we love and care about, and we should spend as much time with our family and friends, and we should be grateful for the people in our lifes. It also made me think back to when I played card games with my sibling and we would be competitive about it and get mad at each other but we were enjoying ourselves.

One reason why we should be surrounded by family and friends we love and care about. This was memorable to me because it shows me that we spend our last breath with the people we love. We see this in the text when Nani Miro is playing cards with her rival but best friend, Mr Heta. For example, when Nani Miro and Mrs Heta were bickering back and forward, the author wrote “ Nani and Mrs Heta started squabbling as they always did, pointing at each other and saying ‘You the cheat, not me’ and Nani Miro said ‘I saw you, Maka Tiko Bum, I saw you sneaking that card from under the blanket.’ She begins to laugh. Her eyes streamed with tears. While she was laughing, she died. Everybody was silent. Then Mrs Heta took the cards from Nani’s hand and kissed her. ‘You the cheat,’ she whispered ‘Yes Miro, you the cheat yourself-’ ”  The purpose of this is to show us that in the Maori culture when it comes to death they come together and spend time together. This makes the reader thrilled that Nani Miro is surrounded by the people who care about her and love her, playing a game of cards with Mrs Heta and getting competitive with each other, and the most important thing, having fun. In reality, we think of death as a quiet, sad time but in the Maori culture when someone dies it’s time for family and friends to come together and to enjoy life.

Another reason is that we should spend as much time with our family and friends because life is short. I found this memorable to me because it made me think about what I would want before I die, which is spending time with my family and friends. We see this in the text when everyone found out Nani Miro was dying and all her family and friends rushed over to see her and a bit later Nani Miro asked Mrs Heta for a game of cards. For example, the author wrote “ Then she looked up, saw Mrs Heta and whispered to her ‘Maka...Maka Tiko Bum...I want a game of cards’ A pack of cards was found Everyone sprang into action. The old ladies sat on the bed, began to gossip, as usual, puffing their clouds of smokes. Nani Tama suggested a game of poker in the living room, so all the men trooped in there to do some serious gambling. Wherever there was a table - in the kitchen, on the verandah, anywhere, games of cards started up. The kids played snap in the other bedrooms and, as the night progressed, so did the games, the laughter, the Aroha” The purpose of this was to show us instead of being sad, and quiet the families and friends spend time playing cards and being happy. This makes the reader understand that in the Maori culture, they act way differently from some cultures. This makes the reader glad that Nani Miro spends her last breath having fun and playing cards with Mrs Heta before she dies.  In reality, lots of people don’t spend the last breath of their loved one being happy and enjoying life, we spend it being sad and quiet, and sometimes people will say their last words and goodbyes.

One other reason is we should be grateful for the people in our life because sooner or later they will end up leaving us. I found this memorable to me because people leave but we should be happy and grateful that they were in our life. We see this in the text when the author writes “ We buried Nani Miro on the hill with the rest of her family. During her tangi, Mrs Heta played patience with Nani, spreading the cards across the casket. Later that year, Mrs Heta, she died too. She was buried right next to Nani so they could keep on playing cards. I bet they’re still squabbling up there. ‘Eee! You cheat, Miro!’ ‘You the cheat, Maka tiko bum. You the cheat.’ ” The purpose of this was to show us that Nani Miro was grateful that Mrs Heta was in her life because she asked for a game of cards when she was slowly dying. This makes the reader feel happy and understand that Mrs Heta wasn’t just Nani Miro’s rival when they were playing cards but she also was her best friend. In reality, we’re not really more grateful for the people in our lifes than we really should be, and it can be hard to find true close best friends.

In the text “A Game of Card,” a memorable idea was that Nani Miro was dying so all her family and friends came over and they spent her last few breaths being happy, playing cards. This idea was memorable to me. It showed me that we should us that we should be surrounded by family and friends, spend as much time with them as possible and we should be grateful that they are in our life. Of all reasons, the most important is that we should set time for our family and friends. If we don’t they’ll end up leaving you to go on their own path in life. For example, the narrator in “A Game of Cards” They were too busy to come home and spend time with Nani Miro until she was on her deathbed. This story shows us that we should make time for our family.

Passion Project

I took some risks like presenting in front of my wga class which was beyond my comfort zone, I avoided distractions, I searched and found resources for myself and I tried useful ways to help me get my project done.

My driving question was how can teenagers best draw to improve their wellbeing. I search online something and draw it in my style. If I was to do this I would take more photo and write down what I did at the start of the period when it's passion project. I found online that when when you draw, sketch you decrease the feeling of anger, anxiety, and depression. When I was drawing I felt calm and not so angry. I pick sketching because I like drawing and wanted to improve my drawing skill which I did, last year I didn't know much about shading.

1900s pakeha attitude toward Maori

In the 1900s fashion was like wearing a long dress and suits.

Pearl Button was the main character. Pearl has a blonde curl, blue eyes, and wearing lots of clothes with white bright teeth. Two Maori women and two Maori men and police were also characters

Pearl is swinging on the gate and sang a little small song. Two Maori women are walking on the road barefoot with a big flax basket of ferns. Then pearl stop swinging and the two Maori women stop when they see her and start talking and waving their hands around and pearl laugh. The two Maori women walk over and ask her questions about her then they told her she coming with them to beautiful things to show her. She follows them but after a while, they ask her if she tried and nodded her head no and they continue walking for a bit before they asked if she was sure she was not tired again she shake her head no but she starts crying and her lips start trembling and one of the women gave her a flax blanket and wraps her up, and carry her. They took her to a one-room house with other Maori women and men.

Yellow Brick Road

Witi Ihimaera was born in Gisborne in New Zealand.

Five publish world have been issue into film-like Kawa.

Yellow Brick Road means to me like the "Follow the Yellow Brick Road" in the wizard of oz.

I think the story is about a journey.

Witi Ihimaera - Penguin Books New ZealandThe narrative believes they were moving to wellington so his parent could get jobs and get more money.

In Waituhi is very poor while wellington is where the money is.

The dad tells uncle sam that they want to start a new life and to let the kids have a better life.

The narrative was very happy at the start but near the end, he starts to feel scared.

Emerald city, yellow brick road, flying monkey, tinman, scarecrow, cowardly lion is from the famous book and movie The Wizard of Oz the writer made this comparison because when he got closer he realized it not what it seems but what he realized that he has his family.

What we can learn from climate change report

Text title: The detail: What we can learn from the climate change report
Text type: Article.
Text creator: Emile Donovan
Text purpose: To tell people about the climate change report.
Critical Literary question: What does the author of this text want us to know?
Date:13/8/2021

Emile Donovan sat with Gibson and discussed the good and bad headlines from the IPCC'S Sixth Assessment Report. Gibson talked about that the intergovernmental panel on climate change was formed in 1988 and released its first report in 1990 and that nothing had changed since 30 years ago. It's now inarguable, incontrovertible that has changed are being caused by us is now clear as well. The thing to take from this is some impacts are now baked in. The seas are going to keep rising in the years because of the temperature changes that we have already produced. Later on, Gibson suggested that this could be a deliberate act on part of the IPCC to encourage people to understand the ideas in the report and force their own government to act.

The Author Emile Donovan who wrote the Article 'What we can learn from the climate change report' wanted to let us know that climate change will affect our future because the article says how climate change will make the sea rise. I believe the reason, Emile Donovan wrote this was to inform us about how the temperature will change for the next years.

Film study......

 FILM STUDY QUESTION.

In English with Miss Johnson, we re-imagine the merchant of Venice.
My Group did a short film where a kid has his friend over and asked his mother for something but she gives something else.
We used Full shot, Long shot, Tilt shot, Pan shot, Close up, Mid shot, and added birds-eye-view shot, Zoned in shot we used those shot so we could see our feet at the beginning of the video and we zoned in on the 2 kids. The challenge we had was getting all the filming correctly.
I learned what re-imagining means and how to make one for the challenges we had to redo it and re-film it a couple of times.
If I was to do this differently next time I would want to film it instead of acting but it was fun making it.

Critical literary Question: Is the text fair
Date:24/5/21

In the film clip, he talks about how to be resilient and how he got his job, Acting. The key point in the video are Fall forward never backward, you will fail in life but keep trying never give up even if it take you 55 try until you are able to succeed because every fail experiment is one step closer to success. As well as taking risks, accept your mistake, do you have guts to success. He talks about his acting job and how he failed a lot of times but he didn't quit. His wife says "To get something you never had you have to do something you never did"  Les Brown said "Imagine your on your death bed and there are ghost standing around your death bed, those ghosts represent your unfulfilled potential talent that you never had the guts to do there angry, disappointed at you they say "We came to you because you haven't brought us to live and now we have to go to the grave together" He askes how many ghosts are going to be around your bed when your time comes.

Critical Literary
QUESTION: Is the Text fair?
Yes it is because he is saying to never give up and keep trying.

Trashing our planet

There are pretty reefs and creatures but the reef might disappear but it is hopeful to change things. We need a healthy sea but when we litter the whale and dolphins help 85% for us to breathe. There could be as much plastic as there are fish in the ocean. Large currents pick up plastic and they flout and the sea creatures died when they eat it. There are islands of plastic in the sea. Lots of little fish don't know what plastic is and eat it causing them to die. The ocean is 80% of the world. Whale and dolphin wash up dead on beaches because they eat plastic waste. The ocean is 9 times more bigger than the earth's land. We can offer the sea a chance.
It not hopeless we can save the animal by picking up litter and bring a reusable bottle, bag, and curluye.
Here at school lunches, everything is recyclable.
The choice lies with us in what we do.

What do you think? I think we should stop not putting stuff in rubbish bins/putting everything in the bin that goes to the dump.

What can be done? Put more stuff in the recycling bin, stop littering, stop making as much mess.

What did the video show us / encourage us to think about? How much plastic get to the ocean, what they are doing to try stop it,

What do you think? I think it's cool they're trying to get all the plastic from the ocean, and they're trying to stop plastic waste.

What can be done? Stop using plastic as much, use reusable plastic more, and not 1 use as much.

Narrative English Assignment.

In English, my class is doing English Assignment and we are to write a short narrative.

Dragon Island

What happened to all the dragons? Did they all go extinct or went into hiding?

A human being with long blonde curly hair who was wearing a white dress and a flower crown wandered around in the forest. Until she made it to a meadow fill with colourful flowers. The tree bunches moved as if they were waving. Until something tackled her to the grass still ground and growled, she was frozen like ice scare for her life that the beast would bite.

The golden dragon walked up to the girl and sniffed her then started licking her and she started giggling and the old bearded dragon roared and a red dragon grabbed her and put her on the king's back. The Dragon lifted his wing and started flying into the air and the other dragons followed. They flew over a river that turned into an ocean until they settled on an island where more dragons were flying around, play fighting with another, sleeping near the water to only be woken up by the golden king's loud roar.

Social study

 fortunate son
The lyrics:

Some folks are born made to wave the flag
They're red, white and blue
And when the band plays "Hail to the Chief"
They point the cannon at you, Lord
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no senator's son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one
Some folks are born silver spoon in hand
Lord, don't they help themselves, yeah
But when the taxman comes to the door
The house look a like a rummage sale
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no millionaire's son, no, no
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one
Yeah, some folks inherit star-spangled eyes
They send you down to war
And when you ask 'em: "How much should we give?"
They only answer: "More, more, more"
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no military son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, one
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one

Who was for and who was against the Beatles tour.

The Fan girl who were screaming and trying to touch or get there attention while there parent were against it because they thought it was bad because the music they listen to was very different to the Beatles and the elder didn't like change very much and the youth would go to hell.

The police had to watch all time so the fans wouldn't get close to the Beatles they even told them to not smile and wave at there fan because it would only set them off, because there wasn't enough police for crime that was made.

Tieke

In Wga we are doing a poster about the Tieke bird.

Beatle

Today in Social study we are learning about The Beatles and how were different back them and how Beatlemania happen.

The song below is Blackbird

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free
Blackbird fly, blackbird fly
Into the light of a dark black night
Blackbird fly, blackbird fly
Into the light of a dark black night
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

The song lyric was inspired McCartney when he was reading the newspaper in mid 1968. But Lennon take the credit for one line in the song. The word bird is also a British slang use for girl, would make black bird Black girl. The events in the 1960 was referring to Rosa Parks, a black woman who was riding the bus and was refusing to give her seat in the black section to a white person after the white section was full.
