In the short story "The Open Window" written by Saki. A man, Framtom Nuttel was the Sappleton house so he could present one of the letters of introduction to Mrs Sappleton, but he was waiting for her, the niece of Mrs Sappleton was asking him a few questions like 'Do you know many people round here?' and then told him about how there was a tragedy and how her aunt, Mrs Sappleton husband, and her two young brothers went off for their day's shooting three years ago but they never came back. Their body were never recovered and her aunt always leave the window open like they used to do with their little brown spaniel. At the end of the short story, the husband, and the aunt's two brothers came through the window with their brown little spaniel. The husband asked who bolted out as they came up. Mrs Sappleton replied with 'A most extraordinary man, a Mr Nuttel' 'could only talk about his illness, and dashed off without a word of goodbye or apology when you arrived. One would think he has seen a ghost' which the niece said 'I expect it was the spaniel' 'He told me he had a horror of dogs. He eas once hunted into a cemetery somewhere on the banks of Gangs by a pack of Pariah dogs, and had spent the night in a newly dug grave with the creature snarling and grinning and foaming just above him. Enough to make them lose their nerves.'
